Brandenburg is best known for his invention of MP3 audio compression. MP3 uses an algorithm that removes unimportant data from files, making audio storage easier. His invention changed the future of storage and revolutionized the music industry. We still use MP3 today for simple tasks that would not be possible without its existence.

Katherine Johnson

Birth:

Katherine Johnson (nee Goble) was born August 20th, 1918 in White Sulphur Springs, VA.

Major Accomplishments:

Katherine Johnson is best known for her contributions to NASA. She worked as a computer and caculated trajectories that would determine the future of space travel. Her worked determined flight paths for the Friendship Seven, as well as the Apollo Flights.

Hedy Lamarr

Hedy Lamarr was born in Vienna on November 19th, 1914.

Major Accomplishments:

Hedy Lamarr is well known for her tinkering and small innovations. However, she is perhaps best known for her creation of the basis of what is called "Wi-Fi" today. Her contributions to technology are some of the most important considered today. Her pioneering of technology has also contributed to our most routine, everyday, systems, such as GPS and Bluetooth.
